Guiseley 3 vs 1 Redditch

James Walshaw’s hat trick ensured a comfortable home win for Guiseley against an ineffective Redditch side.

Walshaw opened his account on 10 minutes when Kevin Spencer unceremoniously bundled him over and the Guiseley striker converted the resultant spot kick despite visiting keeper Robert Ambrusic getting a touch. Walshaw was then just millimeters away from converting Darryn Stamps header from close in.

Guiseley were rocked 19 minutes as Marco Adaggio leveled matters slotting the ball home after Steven Drench had parried Matt Smiths shot. Stamp went close for the home side and Joe O’Niell had a goal disallowed for an alleged handball.

The Lions regained the lead courtesy of Gavin Rothery being tripped in the area and Walshaw converted his second spot kick on 34 minutes.

Redditch defender Jemiah Richard came close to giving the Lions a two goal cushion diverting Walshaw’s shot on to the post and the home side clinched victory six minutes into the second half, following some slick interplay between Warren Payton, Stamp and Walshaw which ended with the latter lashing the ball past Ambrusic for his third. Smith summed up the visitors afternoon shooting wide with the goal at his mercy whilst Payton went close and Ambrusic did well to divert Walshaw’s late effort on to the post.
