Guiseley Vixens ended their title-winning season with a 3-0 win at home to Crewe Alexandra Ladies with Liv Thackray, Chantelle O’Hara and Sarah Danby all finding themselves on the scoresheet.
Crewe came into the game not knowing whether they would be safe from relegation so were keen to play their best.
The Vixens had two good chance in the first 20 minutes. Natalie Brace went past her opponent but her shot was straight at the goalkeeper.
Danby then played through Danica Roberts who turned her marker on the edge of the box. She then tried to chip the ‘keeper but her effort was tipped off target.
The first goal came on the half-hour mark when Brace cut a ball back to Roberts who played it to the edge of the box where it was met by Thackray, whose shot sailed past the defender and goalkeeper into the back of the net.
The second-half was more open with both sides attacking well but missing an end product.
O’Hara played a diagonal ball across the box to Danby who teed it up for Roberts but her shot was straight at the goalkeeper.
O’Hara was involved once again, this time getting her reward. She moved the ball on to her weaker left foot and unleashed a shot into the top corner with no chance of it being stopped.
Danby made it 3-0 in the closing minutes after she dribbled through the box, evading the tackle and put it simply into the net.
Despite losing 3-0, Crewe survived the drop. They were safe on goal difference by three goals with Blackpool Wren Rovers and Tranmere the sides to go down.
