Vixens share the points with Liverpool Feds

The Vixens’ final game of the season at Nethermoor Park saw them draw 1-1 with Liverpool Feds.

A last minute goal from Liverpool saw the teams share the points as they look to push for second place in the league.

Title winners Vixens started brightly, attacking with intent but were unable to put any chances away.

They stopped Liverpool from having any real attacking threat, winning the ball back swiftly when they lost it.

It took nearly 20 minutes before the first chance of the half was created. A ball was whipped in by Alarna Fuller before being cleared to the edge of the box where Liv Thackray tried her luck but it went just over the crossbar.

Minutes later another chance was created. Chantelle O’Hara turning into space and hit one from 30 yards out seemingly heading in but the ‘keeper got a hand to it and put it out for a corner.

In the second-half Liverpool had a fantastic chance to put themselves one up. A cross came across the box where the striker found herself at the back post unmarked but she fumbled her shot over.

Debs Hastings won a free-kick after she was brought down on the edge of the box. O’Hara struck it and it curled into the top left corner to put the home side into the lead.

Liverpool were reduced to 10 minutes later when a player’s foul language directed at the referee saw her get her marching orders.

The final chance of the game fell to Feds who had a long shot from the edge of the box which evaded the defence and flew past ‘keeper Beth Seasman to grab a point for Liverpool.

The title lift was delayed due to the trophy not being delivered in time.
