Vixens Play Host to Nottingham Forest Ladies

Guiseley Vixens play host to Nottingham Forest Ladies this Sunday, with the home side looking to make it two wins within a week.

Manager Glen Preston spoke ahead of the fixture which last year saw the Vixens run out six-nil winners.

Glen, you go into this game off the back of a fantastic midweek performance, that’s got to give you confidence?

“I think so, we certainly needed the win on Wednesday because we have been playing well and, in our opinion, should have had points on the board already.

“We were good value for at least a point in both our league fixtures so far, possibly more and so we now have a result that’s been matching of the performances.

“I just hope we can use it to be a springboard to kick-start our season.|”

In that game, we saw a couple of injuries. What’s the update on those?

” We picked up two injuries on Wednesday, one of which wasn’t too bad which was to Mercy who was feeling a little tight and so she might be in contention on Sunday pending a fitness test, but the second one was a really bad injury to Ella Hartley who’s done ligament damage to both sides of her knee.

“The early indications seem to be that we might not be seeing her in action for up to three months which is a shame because she’s scored 3 in 3 so far and has been fantastic all around.

“She will be missed and I know everyone at the club is wishing her a speedy recovery.

Last time out it ended 6-0 to Guiseley. How do you see this one panning out?

“Well, history hasn’t been kind to us in this fixture. I think we have lost six of the seven meetings between us, so it was nice to end that stat with our biggest win of the season.

“The reality is that Forest had several key players absent that day and had half an eye on a cup final 48 hours later and so that played its part. We are under no illusions that this will be a much tougher game, but it’s a game both sides will be looking at and saying three points are really up for grabs here.

“If we play like we did versus Bradford on Wednesday and like we did in the second half versus Stoke then we will take some beating and have every chance of taking the points.”

The match will take place at Fleet Lane, Woodlesford (LS26 8NX) with a 3PM Kick-Off. Entry is £5, £3 Cons and FREE to GAFC Season Ticket Holders.
