Vixens finally get hands on trophy

In their penultimate game of the season, Guiseley Vixens ran out 6-2 winners over Hull City Ladies.

A hat-trick for Chantelle O’Hara and goals from Sarah Danby, Danica Roberts and Natalie Brace sealed the three points

After the game, the Vixens finally got to lift the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division One trophy much to the player’s delight.

The scoring started in the 14th minute when O’Hara placed the ball on the edge of the box for a free-kick and curled it into the top left-hand corner past the stranded goalkeeper.

Minutes later, a fantastic build up between Natalie Brace, Danby and Hannah Hale was finished by Brace who, composed, placed the ball into the back of the net to double the Vixens’ lead.

In the 35th minute, Danby struck to get her 17th league goal of the season. She went through one-on-one with the ‘keeper and put it past her with a right foot shot.

Becky Beech pulled one back for the visitors when she found herself through with just the ‘keeper to beat and she did so to make it 3-1.

Spirits were not dampened and Guiseley restored their three-goal cushion heading into half-time. Roberts held the ball up well and O’Hara ran on to it to fire home.

Ten minutes into the second-half O’Hara completed her hat-trick after pouncing on a loose ball in the box.

Roberts added the icing on the cake when she saw the goalkeeper off her line and lobbed her from 40 yards to put the Vixens 6-1 up.

Back to back saves from Steph Barraclough saw Hull manage to gain a corner which was put into the box where Alice Stewart met it with her head to add a second for the visitors.
