Midfielder Michael Potts described the dramatic 1-0 victory over Vauxhall Motors at Nethermoor as “massive” after Kevin Holsgrove’s 96th-minute winner snatched all three points.
Potts, a 74th-minute substitute, also believes the win is vital for their their momentum as the Lions side look to keep their hopes of a play-off place alive.
He told Micky Ruddle: “It’s a massive win for the lads and for everyone, just to keep the momentum going. We just need to keep pushing on and keep putting three points on the board.
“It’s a great win. We were on the bench and it looked like it was going to have draw written all over it.
“We had a lot of chances in the first-half but we could also have been 2-0 down. Drenchy has pulled off an unbelievable save to keep us in the game.
“We tightened it up a bit in the second-half and to be fair, we were the better team and overall I do think we deserved the win.”
Gavin Rothery, also a second-half substitute, echoed those thoughts but felt the Lions should have been able to kill the game off earlier.
“Overall, we had the majority of the play. I think we should have put it to bed earlier though. We had plenty of chances,” he explained.
“Hopefully, we can play a little bit better but it gives us lots of confidence going into the Stockport games (on Tuesday and Saturday).
“Stockport is going to be tough but all the lads are buzzing.”
