Six-foot striker Gabriel Johnson arrived at Nethermoor on 12th June 2019 before returning for a second spell with the club on 11th August 2023.

The pair were at Brighouse Town during the 18/19 season with Johnson, a former Sheffield United Academy player, playing 33 games in which he scored ten goals and provided 14 assists.

Johnson, 22, had spells as a youngster with Manchester United U-14s and Leeds United U-17s before his season with the Academy at Sheffield United.

He has also played for Hallam FC, Sheffield FC and Doncaster Rovers and has a brother Tom who played in midfield for Harrogate Town.

Johnson, from Sheffield, works as a gym instructor and he is working hard on his own fitness prior to pre-season starting at Guiseley.

On signing for The Lions Johnson said:”This is a step up for me and I want to be ready for when pre-season training starts. Aaron and I worked well together at Brighouse Town last season and got the club promoted with the goals and assists we shared between us. We will be hoping to replicate that at Guiseley.

“I am looking forward to the challenge of stepping up a level to a club a lot bigger than the one I was at and it gives you an opportunity to be seen on a bigger stage. I have heard good things about the club from some of my friends who have played there so I can’t wait to get started.”

We can also confirm that Jack Dyche has left the club and signed for Hyde United, Jack goes with our best wishes for his future career and we would like to thank him for his efforts.

After completing his move to Nethermoor Park, forward Gabriel Johnson says there were a few factors that saw him pick the Lions over other sides, he told Tom Feaheny.

“Guiseley were top of my list, there is a good stadium, a good set of fans and I spoke to some from last season and they all recommended the club to me.

“Playing with Aaron (Martin) again was key, I got 18 assists last season, he got 30 goals so we want to recreate that partnership again.

“I’m looking to hit the ground running, I can’t wait to make this step up and go to big stadiums and make a real impact.”

On 7th August 2020 Gabriel signed a new contract for the 20/21 season after making 35 appearances and scoring five goals in the 19/20 campaign.

Following the 2020/21 season conclusion Gabriel left the club after two incomplete campaigns with The Lions.

On the eve of the 2023/24 campaign Johnson returned to Nethermoor and made an immediate impact coming on as an early substitute a day later at Hyde.

Johnson went on to strike the winner against Basford United a week later for the first goal of his second spell with the club.

On 8th May 2024 it was announced that Johnson had signed a new contract with the club, the forward made 40 appearances and hit 18 goals in the 2023/24 season.

On 25th June 2025 it was confirmed that Gabriel had departed the club after making 45 appearances and scoring six goals in the 2024/25 campaign.
