New-look Reserves in narrow loss to Thackley

Guiseley Res. 1-2 Thackley

With a much-changed side with some new faces and a number of positional changes the Reserves lost 2-1 at home to Thackley on Saturday. At times they played some good football but paid the price for a couple of defensive errors.

Vinnie and Stu now have until September 29th in the away mid-week fixture at Harrogate Railway to bed in the new players.
Ed Hall replaced Clark Lydon in goal with Shane Harding moving from striker to right-back in the absence of the injured Josh Arnold. A debut was given to striker James Russell, the former Silsden player, and he rewarded us with a goal. He started out with Will Boye as his strike partner but later in the game Will moved to left-back allowing Danny Berry to move into midfield. We had a new centre-back in Richard Moses.
Skipper Liam Robinson as ever battled hard.
Guiseley will welcome the short break which will allow some of the injured players to return to fitness.
Tom Penford dropped down from the first team squad to get some game time and he played well until tiring in the second-half due to his lack of match action with the first team.
Jamie Cairns has had his knee brace removed but is still way off returning to the side but there are hopes that Josh Arnold, Sam Robinson and Will Boye will be fully fit by the next game.
We also have a Serbian and an American training with us and hope to get international clearance for them to play.
Saturday’s team was: Ed Hall; Shane Harding, Sam Jacomb, Richard Moses, Danny Berry; Danny Butterfield (Clark Lydon), Tom Penford (Sam Whittaker), Grant Roberts, Liam Robinson; James Russell, Will Boye. Sub not used Sam Hashmi.
