Solihull Moors visit Nethermoor on Saturday for the last game of our 2016-17 Vanarama National League campaign with Adam Lockwood hopeful of survival, 12:15pm kick-off.

The Lions are without a win since the trip to Southport at the beginning of the month but did draw away at Bromley on Saturday with Jordan Preston’s strike early on in the second half proving crucial.

However boss Lockwood was proud of his sides performance in the last match especially considering three players picked up injuries in the first 45 minutes.

Solihull had been on a bad run but two wins from their last two matches have propelled them to safety with this confirmed on Saturday following the victory over Eastleigh.

A win will be required to ensure our place in the Vanarama National League next season with two relegation places still needing filling and York sit just one point behind us in 21st place with a better goal difference.

Braintree are 22nd on 48 points with Torquay sitting in 19th place on 50 points but with a better goal difference than ourselves.

Woking and Chester are still not safe either with both having 52 points in 18th and 17th respectively.

Following the 1-1 draw at Bromley Adam Lockwood was proud of his players and was pleased with what he saw “We had a lot thrown at us today, including three injuries in the first half, testament to the lads who have slotted straight in, I come away pleased with the effort and desire.”

“Three points are in the mind every time I take to the field, I want to win games and that is what the group wants to do.”

“Nobody will feel sorry for you in football and I won’t let our group do that, we’ve had plenty of things thrown at us and bounced back.”

Will Hatfield was withdrawn after just 17 minutes whilst Jake Lawlor and Marcus Williams did not appear for the second half after picking up knocks.

“We’ll have to address the situation with the injuries and see where we are at, there was a few out on their feet in the last five minutes, they’ve put a great shift in.”

“There was pure desire from the squad, we were restricted to changing things.”

Danny East and Rob Atkinson both returned from long term injuries on Saturday having not featured since December and both are expected to be available on Saturday.

“I’ve seen things today which have given me a lot of pleasure, hunger, desire, if you get that as a manager you can be proud.”

When asked whether he thought we could stay up Lockwood said “I’d like to think so, one thing for sure we have been focused every game.”

“Sometimes I can be a bit of a pain and be demanding of the people at the club, to make sure that we do the best we possibly can, to be part time and compete against full time clubs and teams with bigger resources.”

“There’s a group of individuals in there who are professionals.”
