Second half goals from Kane Richards and Tom Shaw condemned Guiseley to a tenth match without a win and, but for the agility of Jonny Maxted, the margin of defeat could have been greater.
To compound matters, substitute Luke Porritt was taken off with what looked like a head injury shortly before midfielder Will Hatfield got his marching orders. This left the Lions to play out the game with nine men, having already used their full quota of substitutes.
The first half was a fairly even affair with Nicky Clee landing a long range shot on top of Jon Worsnop’s net before Maxted made the first of a series of crucial stops when he denied Craig Mahon from point blank range.
The Lions keeper was then relieved to see a shot from Elliott Durrell rebound off the inside of the post straight into his clutches.
Clee then turned provider to set up Jordan Preston down the channel but he ran into traffic on the edge of the area and was crowded out.
Webb-Foster tested Worsnop and from the resulting corner Ash Palmer’s header was a whisker away from putting the visitors ahead just before the break.
On the resumption the home side were awarded a free kick on the edge of the ‘D’ which Maxted did well to turn around the post.
But the home side were not to be denied and achieved the breakthrough five minutes into the second period when James Akintunde jinked his way past Rob Atkinson and slipped the ball inside for Richards to open the scoring.
Webb-Foster and Jake Lawlor made way for Luke Porritt and Simon Walton shortly after but Chester effectively wrapped up the points eight minutes later when Javan Vidal was adjudged to have felled Johnny Hunt in the box and Shaw despatched the resultant spot kick despite Maxted getting his fingers to it.
Michael Rankine then replaced Preston and immediately got on the end of a good move but pulled his shot across goal and wide.
Guiseley were then hit by the double blow of Porritt being helped to the dressing room after a sustained period of treatment on the field from both physios, before Hatfield was shown a second yellow card for a retaliatory challenge, leaving the visitors with just nine men for the final six minutes.
This seemed to spur several individuals to redouble their efforts and commitment but Waters quickly restored parity when he forced Maxted into yet another superb stop.
