Lions Add Knight To Their Squad

We are delighted to announce the signing of striker Lewis Knight following a trial spell in pre-season with the club.

A second of Guiseley’s pre-season trialists in Lewis Knight has signed for the club, writes Rachel O’Connor.

Striker Knight played in the friendlies against Leeds United U-21s, Silsden and Fleetwood.

He has previously played under the Guiseley management team of Mark Bower and Danny Boshell at Bradford (Park Avenue) and is very keen to link up with them again.

Knight explaining his move to Guiseley said: “They are the reason for me coming to Guiseley. The culture they bring to the changing rooms is amazing and I want to be a part of it and enjoy my football again.”

He added: “It is a culture of being tight knit and having trust in your teammates and although it is serious it makes it really fun to be involved in.

“I am hoping to stay injury free after having four horrendous years with injuries having torn my hamstring twice and I tore a tendon off my hip which needed an operation.”

Knight feels that Bower and Boshell fully understand his position and a possible need for his game time to be managed initially.

“I want to play under them and I completely trust them and know they trust me to manage this well. We have lots of strength in depth and if you want a place in the team you will have to pull your weight or you will be out of the equation,” said the 26 year-old.

Dewsbury-born Knight said that he thought that the pre-season games had been a good work out with all bringing different challenges.

The player started playing with junior club Battyeford before being involved in the Leeds United Academy set up from age eight to 18.

He then spent a year playing in America for Marshall College before spending three seasons at Bradford (Park Avenue).

The striker, who has also played as a right and left winger in the past, joined Notts County in 2020-21 season and had a loan spell back at Park Avenue before County let him leave for Gateshead.

Whilst at Gateshead he had a loan spell at Blyth Spartans before taking time out with his injuries.

Now hoping to revive his football career Knight is looking forward to the new season.

Lewis’ home, away and training kits are both available to sponsor, find more information here or email james.pickles@guiseleyafc.co.uk
