Mark Bower’s Guiseley will be looking for a first league win of the year when Leamington visit Nethermoor in the Skrill North on Saturday.
The Lions’ only previous outing on home turf in 2014 saw a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Worcester City, with Guiseley currently on a four-match losing streak.
Following league defeats to Barrow, AFC Telford and Worcester, Guiseley were eliminated from the West Riding County Cup at the semi-final stage on Wednesday after a second-string XI lost to Eccleshill United 2-1.
The run of defeats, as well as a number of postponements, has seen Guiseley remain in mid-table but with a few games in hand, with Bower eager for his charges to return to the form that contributed to their lengthy unbeaten run in 2013.
He said: “We have to pick ourselves up and go out and do the things we have been doing for a majority of the time during the last three to four months.”
In the reverse fixture in November, the Lions were able to leave the New Windmill Ground with all three points in an entertaining match that saw Guiseley win 3-2 with Danny Forrest, Danny Hall and Jack Rea all on the scoresheet.
Despite the poor weather of late, the club are hopeful that Saturday’s game will go ahead, with work carried out on the pitch throughout the week. It is likely to depend on the amount of rainfall through Friday and into Saturday morning.
Saturday’s match sponsors are Austhorpe Signs.
