Following on from last year’s successful Charity Beer Festival Guiseley Community Foundation are once again running a Charity Beer Festival.
The event is once again sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP and will take place at Coopers in Guiseley on Friday 15th May from 4pm and Saturday 16th May from 12pm.
Following in the footsteps of the now disbanded Guiseley Lions we are looking to emulate their long running event that for 7 years raised much needed funds for local worthy causes. This year all profits will again be distributed between the following local Charities: AVSED (Aireborough Voluntary Services to the Elderly), ACTION (Aireborough Children’s Trust In Our Neighbourhood), Memory Lane Day Centre, and Guiseley Community Foundation.
Amanda from Memory Lane Day Centre commenting on last year’s festival said:
“Memory Lane Trust CIC was delighted to receive a donation of £1,200 from Guiseley Community Foundation in 2019 following the very successful Beer Festival held in Guiseley. The funds were used towards the continuation of our Weekly Saturday Community Cafe which brings people together who are socially isolated or lonely. We also used some of the funds to purchase plants and decorations for our Memory Garden.”
“We are also very grateful for continued support from the foundation in their provision of a coach each week who comes to deliver chair based physical exercise to 20 people who are living with dementia. They thoroughly enjoy these sessions which are fun and uplifting. We are truly thankful for this continued support which will help to keep our Community Cafe running each week. We will also put some of the funds towards the upkeep and running of our minibus service.”
Donna from Aireborough Children’s Centre whom ACTION support said:
“We were incredibly grateful for the donations from last years beer festival. The plan was for us to use this to support us in delivering some Mental health courses which would support parents in recognising and managing their own emotional and mental wellbeing along with recognising the impact this can have on their children. We were able to run 2 courses where 15 parents attended who between them had 27 children. We also managed to run a professional training course around Children’s emotional wellbeing which 25 professionals attended.”
“Our hope and plan for funds raised this year is to extend advice and information regarding the Impact of Domestic Abuse on children (as well as pre birth). We would tackle this by having access to additional training for staff and providing tailored courses with a creche to survivors of abuse and perpetrators alike.”
