Guiseley through to the FA Youth Cup 1st Round
Guiseley Academy are through to the FA Youth Cup 1st Round after knocking Grimsby Town out in the 3rd and final qualifying round.
In the first half of normal time, Grimsby Town had a counter attack that finished off with a great strike from outside the area but was superbly saved by Guiseley goal keeper, Conor Crossley.
Guiseley attacked and had some great chances in the 90 minutes but was unable to finish them off. Crosses were placed in the box and shots were taken but none of them found the net.
Full Time – 0-0
Five minutes into extra time and Guiseley were given a penalty that Luke Porritt calmly placed into the corner to make it 1-0. Just three minutes later Ben Whitfield found himself in space on the edge of the area and was able to place the ball passed the keeper to make it 2-0.
With a two goal lead in the second half of extra time, Grimsby Town pushed forward looking for a goal but Guiseley were able to hold them off and put themselves in the FA Youth Cup 1st Round proper for the first time in the clubs history.

Guiseley Academy will now be away to Bury FC, Gigg Lane, in the FA Youth Cup 1st Round on Wednesday 6th November at 7pm.
