FA Trophy adds to cash windfall

The FA Trophy win over Stalybridge puts the Lions into the Third Round of the competition where they join seventeen other clubs intent on reaching the Wembley Final on Saturday 07 May 2011. The remaining eighteen contenders comprise clubs from all three Blue Square Leagues plus the Southern and Northern Premier Leagues and will be reduced to sixteen once the three replays have taken place.

The draw for the Third Round takes place tomorrow lunchtime and will be on the website as soon as our opponents are known. The three victories in the competition have so far netted the club prize money totalling £15,000 which when added to the FA Cup winnings of £25,000 just about covers the cost of the ground improvements that are mandatory should the Lions finish in the promotion or play-off positions at the end of the season.

The potential earnings in reaching the Final are £81,000 for the winners and £56,000 for the runners-up:
