Having helped Guiseley get back to winning ways against Lowestoft Town at the weekend, defender Danny Lowe was full of praise for his team-mates.
Lowe stood in as captain for the Lions and helped his side prevail 2-0 at Nethermoor as Guiseley returned to winning ways and moved sixth in the Vanarama Conference North.
Playing in a back four alongside new loan signing Shane Killock and the returning Danny Ellis, Lowe was pleased to secure maximum points as well as a clean sheet after recent defeats to Grimsby Town and Barrow.
“I’m really pleased because after the results we’ve had over the last few weeks it was important to get a win,” he told Tom Feaheny.
“It was nice to be captain today but the result is what matters and the clean sheet was a bonus as well. We know we have the quality in the attacking third, with the likes of Adam Boyes and Oli Johnson, so you would expect us to get a goal a game.
“But even if we don’t, we know that we’re capable of keeping clean sheets. I thought Shane did very well, he slotted in immediately, as part of the back four and I felt we kept our shape throughout the whole match well as a group.”
Mark Bower and his side will now turn their attention to away clashes with Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday and Gloucester City on Saturday, with both teams having beaten the Lions at Nethermoor this season.
“There is an added incentive that we have faced both sides and lost to them already,” Lowe added.
“We want to put that right.”
