Connor Ferguson Signs After Spell On Trial

We are delighted to announce the signing of Connor Ferguson after his impressive trial spell with the club.

Former Leeds United Under-21s player Connor Ferguson impressed so much in Guiseley’s pre-season friendlies that he has been signed up and will feature in the match day squad at Bamber Bridge today, Saturday, writes Rachel O’Connor.

The 21 year-old left-back had been in the Leeds Academy set up from the age of six and was making a big impression in the Under-21 side that included the likes of Archie Gray and Mateo Joseph.

Although disappointed at being released Ferguson said: “I had a very good time at Leeds United eventually playing in the Under-18s and Under-21s and getting to train with the first team.

“My best experience was training under Marcelo Bielsa, what a great legacy he left at Leeds. I was disappointed at being released but at the same time I cannot be more thankful for what they have done for me.

“At the end of the day I am now getting to do what I wanted to do and that is play men’s football.”

Ferguson is now looking ahead to settling down at Guiseley “by starting games, winning games and getting promoted”.

The Keighley-born player said: “I just want to move forward now and get fully into men’s football and kick on with my career.”

He added: “I had a spell in Non-League at Farsley Celtic last season as work experience and I am hoping to build on that. I found it helpful even though it was a big difference from Academy play.”

Looking forward he said: “I want to get back into the pro game at some stage so I will be out to impress. I will be happy if I can get in some assists to help the team.”

The former Parkside School pupil started playing football as a four-year-old with Queensbury Celtic. In the summers he enjoyed playing cricket with the Cullingworth club.

After making an impression with Leeds Under-18s Ferguson became a regular in the Under-21s before signing his first professional contract in January 2023.

He figured in the Under-21s as they won promotion to Premier League 2 after becoming champions of Division 2. They also won the National League Cup last season.

As well as playing at left-back or wing back Ferguson can also play at centre-back.

Connor’s home, away and training kits are all available to sponsor, find more information here or email james.pickles@guiseleyafc.co.uk
