Chippendale Signs For Another Season

We are delighted to announce that midfielder Callum Chippendale has signed a new deal with the club for the 2023/24 campaign.

Looking forward to a new season in a Guiseley shirt is midfielder Callum Chippendale who has featured strongly in the pre-season games, writes Rachel O’Connor.

The form of the Guiseley squad in those pre-season games has impressed the former Barnsley FC Under-23s player.

He believes the squad has prepared well for the new Northern Premier League Pitching In Premier Division season with big tests provided by clubs higher up the Pyramid with wins over Spennymoor and Scarborough and a draw with Farsley.

Chippendale said: “Sometimes pre-season can be a false indicator of the league season to come but this time we have had some good tests that have been more like league games. They have been against good opposition and have been fairly realistic to the challenges ahead.

“There has been a bit of bite and the squad has performed well and we will only get better and better as the season progresses. We are looking for a successful season with promotion in our sights. We will be in it to win it.”

On a personal level the attacking midfielder is looking to help the team as much as possible and play anywhere the management want him to.

“I can play in a few different roles, as can many of the squad, and I am hoping to play as much as possible and chip in with goals and assists,” said Chippendale.

Explaining his decision to sign a new contract with the club he said: “It was a no brainer really as I have absolutely loved being at this club, it is such a welcoming place – the fans, the volunteers, the Board and officials, there are some great, great people here.”

He added: “The management look to have gathered a great squad together and I have a feeling that the coming season is going to be great. We have a good squad with great ability, good attitude and good experience.”

Chippendale came to Guiseley in October 2022 as part of a deal that saw John Johnston join Matlock for an undisclosed fee plus Callum.

The 27 year-old, from the Keighley area, had previously played under current Guiseley manager Paul Phillips at Matlock. A former youth player at Bradford City he gained his first professional contract at Barnsley FC.

On leaving The Tykes Chippendale joined Bradford (Park Avenue), leaving them in 2016 for Boston United. He gained further experience at Gainsborough Trinity, Glossop North End, Shaw Lane and Buxton prior to joining Matlock Town in the summer of 2019. At the age of 22 he captained Buxton to the play-offs.

The midfielder said: “I have twice been in the play-offs but although it is an achievement within itself it is not quite getting over the line and I hope to go one better with Guiseley. We are hoping for the play-offs at the very least with Guiseley, a club that was a good National League North side and they need to be back there. I will be doing all I can to make that a reality.”

Chippendale works in Bradford for the family firm which is involved in making wool machine washable.

He comes from a footballing family with his older brother Aidan playing for Thackley, a club their father played for, having joined them from Bury. Aidan started his career with Bradford City’s youth team and made his professional debut for Huddersfield Town.

In his spare time Callum enjoys playing golf and is a member at West Bradford Golf Club.

Callum’s home, away and training kits are all available to sponsor.
