After his brace on Saturday helped ensure the Lions’ place in the play-offs, Adam Boyes is confident he and his team-mates can carry that form into Wednesday’s semi-final first leg against North Ferriby United.
Boyes’ two against Gloucester City helped him to 12 goals from his last 10 games – a goalscoring streak that has proven crucial to completing the Lions’ turnaround under Mark Bower this term.
The Gateshead loanee, who was brought off after receiving a kick to the stomach on Saturday, feels Guiseley can see off Wednesday’s visitors, although he remains wary of a team who finished second in the league behind AFC Telford United.
“It’s nice that is has all been confirmed, so now we have to go again on Wednesday and hopefully we can win it”, he told Tom Feaheny.
“I’m on a scoring run and hopefully I can continue this run for the next three games and help get the club into the Conference.
“We played them and beat them 1-0 at home – they are a tough, organised side but I think we can beat them home and away.”
Only fellow-striker Alex Johnson has more goals this season than Boyes, who arrived at Nethermoor on loan in January.
Boyes is hopeful of adding to his tally providing he is able to shake off the pains that troubled him during Saturday’s game.
“I got a kick in the lower stomach area and it meant I kept getting sharp pains, I felt I couldn’t give my best for the team, so I asked to come off,” he added.
“I knew that Kev (Holsgrove) could come on and do just as well as me and that is good to know.
“I will just have to wait and see but hopefully I will be alright for Wednesday.”
Wednesday’s match sponsors are Energy Plus Management.
