Lions boss Mark Bower is looking for improvement on last season as Wrexham visit Nethermoor on Tuesday night. 

The visitors come into the game following a 0-0 draw at home to Dover on Saturday with a squad which includes 18 new signings from last season.

The Lions will be looking for their first points of the season following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Eastleigh, a game which saw Michael Rankine score his first goal for the club.

However the Spitfires had raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half which proved to seal the win.

Wrexham are yet to beat Guiseley after a 3-3 draw at the Racecourse Ground back in October and a 3-1 defeat in the return fixture at Nethermoor in April.

Mark feels the new signings, particularly in his attacking line up, could give a real boost to his side “Just five or ten more goals would have made a big difference to our league position and I feel we have players who can boost our tally this season”

“Michael Rankine is a strong target man type who is good in the air and on the ground, while Adam Boyes will want to build on last season, Oli Johnson provides that touch of magic and Jordan is a youngster with goals in him.”

Bower also was happy to see the end of pre-season, “I am glad to get pre-season out of the way. There are so many ins and out, trialists coming and going and all the time you are trying to get the balance right.”

“It will be a new-look Guiseley team with quite a number of debutants, but I feel we are stronger than we were last year, we have a squad that enables us to play different formations and adapt to the challenges we meet.”
