Mark Bower hopes his Guiseley side can put the disappointment of Bromley behind them and bounce back against high-flying Grimsby Town on Tuesday at Nethermoor.
The Lions were second best at Hayes Lane and went down 2-0 thanks to two Bradley Goldberg goals, leaving Bower to again lament his side’s struggles for consistency.
Guiseley face another stern test on Tuesday when third-placed Grimsby visit Nethermoor off the back of three straight Vanarama National League wins and FA Trophy progression at the weekend.
Grimsby have not conceded in those four matches and Bower says his side will need to produce a similar display to the one that saw the Lions claim a point at Blundell Park at the start of the year.
“It was a poor performance in the second half, I’m not pleased with it at all,” Bower said of the defeat at Bromley.
“We spoke about it in the dressing room and we’ve just got to pick ourselves up and go again. The points-per-game ratio we have is enough to keep us up comfortably but we’ve been so up and down.
“I’ve said to the lads in there, not many of them have a case to start Tuesday night so we’ve got to look at maybe changing a few things and getting the right team out there to try get a result against Grimsby.
“I said it before, not so long ago, that I think they are the best side in the league. They’re also the side best equipped to go up and deal with League Two.
“It’s going to be a really tough game but the lads have stood up to that in the last few weeks – games where people might not have expected us to get anything we’ve put in good performances.
“There are goings to be ups and downs, this is definitely a down but we have to pick ourselves up and look to bounce back with good performances.”
