Bower Brings In Bowen

We are delighted to announce the signing of 19 year-old striker Taylor Bowen for our fourth new addition of the season.

Middlesbrough-born striker Taylor Bowen is looking to make his mark on joining Guiseley AFC from Blackpool for the new season, writes Rachel O’Connor.

The 19 year-old prospect’s potential was spotted by Guiseley’s Sporting Director Russ O’Neill as the youngster looked to bounce back from an injury setback with a series of loan moves from parent club Blackpool.

Bowen started playing junior football at the age of eight and aged 12 was approached by both the Middlesbrough and Sunderland clubs.

He opted for ‘Boro his home town club and played for them until the age of 16 when he was disappointingly released.

He then took a few months out of football to collect his thoughts. He was offered a trial by Blackpool and did well enough to earn a three year deal with them.

In his first two years he played for the Under-18s and in the third was hoping to establish himself in the Under-21s.

However, fate dealt him a severe blow and he was out of the game for 11 months with a Grade 4 hamstring injury.

He had loan spells at Runcorn, Warrington, Bamber Bridge and Leek Town and described that time as “a good experience which 100 per cent helped me mature both as a footballer and in a personal sense”.

Of his future Bowen said: “I am looking to bounce back from my injury setback and get some confidence back and get scoring again. I hope to be able to help Guiseley with a promotion push to get them back to National North.”

He added: “If I do well then it may be a pathway for me to get back to being noticed and a return to a Football League club. If I can get 16 goals and say eight assists then I think I will have done OK.”

Outside of playing Bowen is hoping to continue gaining coaching qualifications having done his UEFA C licence whilst at Blackpool.

Of signing for Guiseley Bowen said: “I am hoping to establish myself in the team. It will be a massive thing for me to be in a good environment and I have heard good things about the club.”
