Bower begins to build for new season

With little over a week gone since the dramatic end to the 2015-16 season, manager Mark Bower has already begun assembling a squad for our second campaign in the Vanarama National League.

The Lions maintained their status in the fifth tier of English football by a narrow margin on the final day of the season. With no play-offs to contend with, Bower has been able to begin preparing for August earlier than in his previous two close seasons.

Discussions Underway

Three players are already under contract for the 2016-17 season. Experienced first team members Jake Lawlor and Adam Lockwood return, alongside Academy prospect Will Wells.

The club is currently discussing terms with Will Hatfield, Dan Atkinson, Danny Lowe, Oli Johnson, Adam Boyes, Luke Porritt, Steven Drench, Adam Smith and Rob Atkinson.

Eight Players Released

A number of players have been released by the club, including Ryan Toulson, Ben Parker, Gavin Rothery, Danny Hall, Liam Dickinson, Nicky Boshell, Oliver Norburn and James Hurst.

We would like to thank all of these players for being part of our journey into the National League and wish them the best for the future.

Mark Bower added, “Some of these players have been with the club for several years and all of them played their part this season. I’d like to them them all for their efforts.”

Transfer Targets Identified

Following a recent meeting between the Board and Mark Bower, a list of player targets for next season has been drawn up and discussions with targets have already begun. In line with club policy, signings will be announced when they have been completed.

Early Bird Season Tickets for 2016-17 are now on sale.
