Baldry joins whilst Lloyd goes on loan

Anthony LloydThe Lions have added the highly experienced midfield player Simon Baldry to the first team squad.  He arrives at Nethermoor from Bradford Park Avenue in a deal that sees talented full back Anthony Lloyd join Avenue to continue his recovery from a career threatening injury and get in some much needed match practice.

Baldry was a youth player with local clubs Stile Common and Deighton before joining his hometown club Huddersfield Town at 17 years of age in 1994 where he spent the next nine years winning the Pontins League Player of the Year Award a number of times with the club’s reserve team.

He was one of nine players released in May 2003 following Town’s relegation to Division Three and after initially linking up with Telford United, signed for Notts County where he produced some of the best football of his career and became a fans favorite.

Simon BaldryBaldry made a total of 41 appearances in all competitions for County before being released by manager Gary Mills at the end of the 2003/04 season. Following a spate of injuries – including a double hernia operation – he eventually joined in Ossett Town in January 2008 and then moved on to Bradford Park Avenue in July 2009 and was eventually became Assistant First Team Manager when new Manager Simon Collins took the reins at Horsfall for the 2010-11 campaign.
