Guiseley AFC are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Rob Atkinson ahead of our Vanarama National League bow on Saturday.

The centre-back lists Grimsby Town and Accrington Stanley among his former clubs while he also won non-league’s top tier while on loan at Fleetwood Town.

The 28-year-old will add further quality to the centre of Mark Bower’s defence, following the close-season signing of Adam Lockwood, having featured regularly during the Lions’ pre-season preparations.

Manager Bower said: “We’re delighted to get Rob signed up and I’m confident he will add extra quality and experience to our defence.

“He’s someone I’ve wanted to bring in since early on in pre-season and, like Locky, he’ll provide a calm head for us at the back this season.”
