A Leo Farrell brace helped Guiseley towards a spectacular 4-2 comeback victory over Ashton United at Nethermoor, writes David Bridson.
The win also gives the Lions their first back-to-back triumphs this season following the 1-0 success at Workington on Tuesday night.
United had led 2-0 at half-time following a third minute Luca Navarro strike before the same player doubled their lead in the 35th minute.
The inspirational Farrell netted within moments of coming on as a substitute at the start of the second-half.
Ollie Brown’s pinpoint 80th minute header levelled the score.
Farrell’s header put the Lions in front with six minutes remaining.
A George Goodman tap-in three minutes later capped off an epic Lions comeback.
Guiseley were on the backfoot from the get-go as Navarro’s unchallenged header finished off their fierce initial attack.
Michael O’Neill dragged his sixth minute edge-of the-box effort wide with Guiseley under intense early pressure.
Navarro missed the target with a header via Alex Byrne’s decent cross during a dominant opposition spell.
Connor Ferguson’s shot was well caught by visiting goalkeeper Jordan Eastham as the Lions mounted their first foray on goal in the ninth minute.
A frenzied goalmouth scramble following Byrne’s 11th minute cross nearly culminated in another goal for the commanding opponents.
Jordan Thewlis forced Eastham to palm away his delicious curling strike midway through the first half.
The Lions were pressing for a leveller but Lucas Odunston’s cross on the half hour mark slipped over and out.
Brown’s quick reactionary clearance from O’Neill’s cross prevented another chance at goal for the play-off chasing visitors three minutes later.
But United finally had their second when Navarro found a path through to goal after the ball pinged round Guiseley’s box.
Thewlis’ crafty 38th minute turn and shot was well blocked by the resolute away defence.
United’s defence halted a sizzling Thewlis run in the 43rd minute.
Enock Lusiama’s attempt from distance flew over as United sought to be out of sight by half-time.
But Farrell’s introduction in place of Will Longbottom began a scintillating second-half.

The lively Amir Berchil saw his 51st minute shot steered away as the revitialised Lions upped the ante.
Farrell’s 55th minute header flashed wide as the Lions took charge of the game.
Lions fans roared when they thought Berchil had equalised two minutes later but the innovative winger’s strike slammed the side netting.
The impressive Jack Emmett made a fantastic goal-line clearance from a United cross moments later to keep Guiseley in the game.
Thewlis was unlucky to see his remarkable scissor-kick, performed with magnificent technique, ruled offside in the 64th minute.
Odunston was blasted into the advertising hoardings two minutes later as both sides battled to take control.
Substitute Joao Silva saw his header cleared away by the resilient Ashton backline two minutes later.
Farrell, who the visitors couldn’t cope with, fired a shot narrowly wide with 16 minutes to spare.
But the pressure paid off for the Lions as Brown’s top-notch header from the lively Harrison Hopper’s cross levelled the scores.
Both sides stormed forward with the game there for the taking.
John Lufudu, also introduced at half-time in place of Ferguson, forced Eastham into an extraordinary leap to tip over his electrifying 83rd minute effort.
The resulting corner saw Farrell edge the Lions in front in this fascinating encounter.
The majestic Goodman, who has deservedly seen his loan extended by another month, hit home three minutes from time to complete the tremendous comeback.
The wonderful win sees Guiseley climb up to 14th in the league table, just six points off the play-offs.
The Lions are next in action at home to Leek Town on Saturday 6th December with a 3pm kick-off.
