Previous Meetings
FC United took the spoils when the sides last met back in February as they won 1-0. The Lions have only won one of the previous four meetings between the sides, with Jake Cassidy grabbing the winner in October 2022 in a 2-1 victory. It is worth pointing out that Guiseley have never won at Broadhurst Park, and Saturday’s hosts have not won on home soil since September.
The Lions’ Form Book
As we all know, the Lions are in impressive form, with the enthralling clash with Workington on Saturday making it eight games without defeat. There is no doubting that the current man of the moment is Gabriel Johnson. He is in red hot form and will be looking to add to the hat trick he bagged last Saturday and will be looking to add to the 11 goals he already has this campaign.
A Look At FC United of Manchester
You could say this game comes at the right time for the Lions, with the Reds woefully out of form. They have only won one of their last six games and their 0-0 draw against Lancaster last Saturday was their first clean sheet since their last home victory, a 2-0 success against Bradford Park Avenue on 9th September.
A Look At The Lions
Manager Andy Welsh may be tempted to stick with the same side that came out on top in that seven-goal thriller against Workington. Courtney Meppen-Walters took his place on Saturday, so it is really up to Welsh on whether he decides to tinker.
Jordi Nsaka impressed on his home debut last time out, with Callum Chippendale also pushing for a starting berth. Ollie Brown was forced off with an ankle injury.
One thing is for sure is that Gabriel Johnson will lead the line once again and will be looking to add to his goal tally on Saturday.
What Are They Saying?
Andy Welsh was grilled after the Workington game and praised the sides endeavour as they were on the right side of a 4-3 victory.
‘Their intensity. Their aggression. Their energy both in and out of possession was superb’ Welsh said.
‘It was a really good tactical game, end to end but one thing we have to be is resilient and the lads are showing that at the minute’.
Welsh also issued a rallying cry to those that are only thinking about attending the home game against Matlock Town this coming Tuesday evening.
‘We just want to spread the word. Come and support the lads. The louder you shout sometimes the more you get, so the more we can get in at Nethermoor the better’.
