Tickets will be on sale on the day at the turnstiles with payment by cash or card.

It is cash payments only inside the ground for programmes and 50/50 cash draw tickets. Food and drink from The Lions’ Diner and clubhouse food servery can be paid for by cash or card and the clubhouse accepts and prefers payment by card.

Tickets are priced at £12 adults, £8 concessions/students/registered disabled, U18’s £5 and accompanied U11’s £1.

Previous Meetings

The sides last met on Halloween last year and it was far from a scary affair, with the game finishing 1-1. Kallan Murphy cancelled out Vaughan Redford’s penalty before Jameel Ible was sent off late on.

Worksop have actually won on two of their last three visits to Nethermoor, with the Tigers winning 2-1 when the sides last played here in 2009.

Last Time Out

Guiseley were defeated by Stafford Rangers last Saturday, in what was a disappointing 2-1 reverse against a side propping up the Northern Premier League. Tom Denton’s header looked to have at least secured a point before Kaiman Anderson’s late winner.

This weekend’s visitors were also on the wrong end of a scoreline as they fell 4-2 at home to Bamber Bridge. Josh Wilde and Jay Rollins got the goals for the Tigers and visit West Yorkshire this weekend having only won one of their last eight league matches on the road.

The Lions’ Form Book

The defeat on Saturday to Stafford Rangers really sums up the Lions season. A victory which on paper looked in the bag due to the form and league position of the opposition. It was anything but straight forward as the Lions were defeated for the third time in 2024, with four victories and a draw to start the year.

The visit of Worksop will give the Lions the opportunity to prove that they can not only make the play-offs, but make a huge statement by getting a much needed three points against a side who are also vying for a place in the end of season lottery.

Our Opponents – Worksop Town

Manager: Craig Parry
Stadium: Windsor Food Service Stadium
Nickname: The Tigers
Current League Position: 6th

The Tigers began this week by committing club captain Hamza Bencherif to a new contract. Former Lion Bencherif has signed a new two-year deal at the club and has been with the club since 2022.

Rollins is the club’s top goalscorer after coming into double figures during the weekend defeat to Bamber Bridge. Luke Hall and Vaughan Redford are also pitching in with goals and have nine apiece.

The club has much EFL experience in their side. George Taft has played for Scunthorpe United and Cambridge United. Paul Green, now 40, will be well-known in West Yorkshire after playing for Leeds between 2012-2014 but he has also represented Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. Colin Daniel is a full back who played for the likes of Blackpool and Crewe Alexandra.

Terry Hawkridge has played for many clubs in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, including Notts County, Scunthorpe United and Lincoln City. He was part of the Lincoln City side who won promotion to the Football League in the 16-17 season, the same season they reached the FA Cup quarter-Finals.

The Lions’ Team News

Andy Welsh will be forced to change his side for the first time in five games.

Kallan Murphy picked up his tenth yellow card of the campaign and will now sit out the next two fixtures through suspension.

Gabriel Johnson and Tom Denton both gained valuable minutes in the loss at Stafford and will be pushing for a starting spot in place of the Irishman.

Ollie Brown went off injured at half-time with Jordi Nsaka returning to fitness with 45 minutes in his legs which could provide Welsh with an option should Brown be ruled out.

Lewis Whitham took part in the warm up in Staffordshire but the winger is still on with his recovery plan and will miss the game alongside the injured Laurence Sorhaindo.

What Are They Saying?

“A draw would have been a fair result. Stafford are fighting for their lives. We wanted to win the game. The last goal was just poor defensively. It’s a tough one to take”.

Andy Welsh conceded after the game that his side did not manage the game well. Although he admitted a draw would have been the fair result, he conceded it’s a game his side should be winning.

“The ref wasn’t dealing with it. You could tell he was getting assessed today.”

A rather tongue in cheek comment from Welsh sums up his obvious frustration. He alludes to Kallan Murphy being booked for a foul on the goalkeeper which did not seem justified.

“We need everybody behind us”.

A rallying cry from the boss and he hopes to see a good crowd at Saturday’s game.

“Jordi (Nsaka) is back. It is good to have him back. Josh (Ashman) missed out being involved but it’s good to have certain players to call upon”.

Welsh expects Jordi Nsaka to be involved more at the weekend with the boss confirming he is back to full fitness. Welsh admitted Josh Ashman missed out purely because he felt the side ‘needed to switch things up a bit’, but there is no injury involved and Ashman could also be involved for Worksop’s visit.
