The Lions will be looking to make it three home wins on the spin and five unbeaten at Nethermoor against title and promotion candidates Brackley Town in our first home game in over a month.
Previous meetings
The two teams have already met three times the season, once at Nethermoor in the Emirates FA Cup which ended in a 2-1 replay win for the home side back in October after a 1-1 draw at St James Park.
In the league The Saints came out on top with a 1-0 win in December when Matt Lowe struck the only goal 13 minutes in.
The Lions’ Form Book
2022 has seen The Lions play eight league games with two wins and a draw the succesful outcomes all at Nethermoor Park. The last two games have both ended in defeat with The Lions looking to start March with a big three points and capitalise on one of our games in hand.
Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill’s side have played the least games in the division with just 26 fixtures completed so far meaning potentially four games in hand on some opponents.
A Look At Brackley Town
The Saints have been on a fine run of form since the turn of the year with six wins, three draws and just one defeat.
They haven’t tasted defeat since 2nd January on the road at Kettering Town with each of their five of their six victories being by one goal.
Currently sitting in second place six points behind Gateshead with two games in hand Brackley have played 15 away games so far this season winning eight, drawing five and losing two.
Brackley’s defence has been their strong point all campaign having only conceded 17 goals in 28 games, the lowest in the division.
A Look At The Lions
James Gale could make his home debut after joining the club from Mansfield Town on loan. Jason Sraha and Thierry Latty-Fairweather have both had their loans extended until the end of the season and should be available for selection.
The Lions could however be without Jamie Spencer, Bailey Thompson and Shaun Tuton for this one but they will hope to have Scott McLean available after he missed the trips to Hereford and York for personal reasons.
Prince Ekpolo will miss the match after receiving an early red card at the LNER Community Stadium last week.
What Are They Saying?
Ahead of the match O’Neill said “I cannot give a massive judgement of Prince Ekpolo’s red card but everyone around was amazed when he pulled the red card out. Prince was heartbroken in the dressing room, he thought it was a yellow card.”
“We have had to bring some players in, it’s been no secret the amount of injuries we had throughout the season, we have had two broken foots and a cruciate ligament.”
“We will go into the Brackley game with 100% belief to get a result.”
Tickets for the game with Brackley Town can be purchased at the turnstiles on the night with cash payment only or online in advance here. Don’t forget to pick up a matchday programme for just £3, it is packed full with exclusive content with what you will find inside here.
