Altrincham 1 Guiseley 3
Guiseley Academy are through to the next round of the Youth Alliance League Cup after beating Altrincham 3-1.
Ryan Motley-Henry scored his first goal for the Academy after 20 minutes, with a cross into the box finding him alone at the back post to place the ball home. Redmond Lee kept his great scoring run going by making it 2-0 shortly afterwards. After a quick attack from Guiseley, the ball was given to Redmond who placed it neatly into the corner.
Just before half time, Altrincham made it 2-1 after the ball was prodded home from two yards out after a scramble in the Guiseley penalty area from an Altrincham corner.
In the second half, both teams started to battle hard as they pushed for the next goal. With Darius McLeod receiving two yellow cards within the space of five minutes, Guiseley were down to 10 men.
The game was then stretched and chances were created at either end of the pitch. With ten minutes left on the clock the ball was put through to Luke Porritt who, from the edge of the area, placed the ball into the bottom corner of the net to seal the victory for Guiseley.
Guiseley are through to the next round of the cup which will be a home tie against Braintree. The date of this match is still to be confirmed.
