For this West Riding Cup Quarter Final against Albion Sports at Farsley the Guiseley starting line-up included a smattering of first teamers and Academy players and although they finished all square at 2-2 on the final whistle they eventually lost out on penalties by 2-4.
Adam Haw, Regan Hutchinson, Josh Stones and Lewis Hey were joined by Andy Hollins, who was returning from suspension, but it was Albion who took an early lead when Kamron Basi bundled home from close range with ten minutes gone.
The lead was short lived however, as Haw took a ball down the right hand channel and rounded the keeper for the equaliser just one minute later.
The visitors gradually got on top and looked as though they might add to their score which they did three minutes before the break, Haw once again finding the space to draw the keeper and slot home and bag his second goal of the game.
However, the Lions were unable to clinch another goal and put the game beyond Sports leaving Jamal Stewart to square matters with eleven minutes remaining and with no further goals the game went to a penalty shoot-out.
Guiseley were first up, with Hollins and Stones netting the first two spot kicks as did Albion, although Declan Lambton was unfortunate with the second as he looked to have saved it only for the ball to squirm under his body and over the line.
The third from Hey was saved whilst the home side scored their third effort to put them 3-2 up.
Hutchinson stepped up and rattled the bar with the Lions fourth before Robbie Fox converted Sports’ fourth to book a Semi-Final place for the Northern Counties East side.
