Young Lions Go Three Points Clear At The Summit

Guiseley Academy face their second game of the week on Friday as they seek to further extend their lead at the top of the National League Under-19 Alliance North table, writes Rachel O’Connor.

The Young Lions will entertain AFC Fylde at Leeds Trinity University on Friday kicking-off at 1pm.

On the road to Solihull Moors on Monday, after their 4-1 win over South Shields at Trinity last Friday had taken them top on goal difference from Farsley Celtic, Guiseley were determined to put some distance between themselves and the lads from The Citadel.

This they did with a fine 5-1 win after a long trip to the West Midlands.

Defenders have figured largely on the scoresheet for Guiseley this season and they were at it again at The Moors with left-back K’Marni Miller notching his tenth goal of the season.

Centre-back Freddie Westfall also netted – his third in what has been a season of progress for him.

Other goals came from Robbie Murray, George Sebine and Jack Mason, the latter now joint leading scorer with Danyaal Khan on 15.

Guiseley: Callum Bradbury; Kyle Burrows, Joe Taylor, Freddie Westfall, K’Marni Miller; Jack Mason, Sam Walters, Oliwier Grzelak, Max Dickinson; Robbie Murray, George Sebine. Subs: Marley Spence (for Miller 60); Mason Donaldson (for Burrows 60); Jack Lorriman (for Murray 80).

After facing Fylde Guiseley have home games scheduled against Altrincham (April 17th) and FC Halifax Town (April 24th). The home clash against Blyth Spartans is still to be rearranged.
