Guiseley Academy got past a resilient Garforth Town in the FA Youth Cup at Nethermoor on Tuesday night after two first half strikes.

Rafael Marques opened the scoring with a low shot past Garforth keeper Harry Dalziel after the Young Lions had been on top in the early stages.

Adam Haw saw his shot strike the post but he didn’t have to wait long for his goal, he was alert in the box and doubled his side’s lead before the half-time whistle.

Garforth were a tough side to break down and the second half was limited on chances.

Haw fired over in the final minutes but the two goals were enough to see Dave Currie’s side through this first round qualifying tie.
