Walk In The Park For Bucks As Limp Lions Exit Trophy

The Lions of Guiseley were more like lambs to the slaughter as AFC Telford put four past the home team for the second time in five weeks to stroll into the FA Trophy First Round Proper.

With the midfield having gone AWOL for the majority of the game Guiseley reverted to launching long balls up to Aaron Martin who found the going tough against Tedford’s man of the match centre back Theo Streete.

Martin put a header just over the bar early on and the home side should have been ahead as Reiss McNally’s ball put Lee Shaw in behind the Bucks defence and his cross into the box created an almighty scramble in the visitors six yard box that saw Ricardo Calder clear off the line.

Having survived the scare Calder’s side went straight down the other end and forced a corner which was only half cleared to Zak Lilly who fired into the far corner from twelve yards out on 31 minutes for the opener .

James McQuilkin then went close as his long-range effort had Marcus Dewhurst scrambling across his goal.

The home side started strongly on the restart with Jamie Spencer wasting a good opportunity to set up his strikers while Hamza Bencherif’s free kick was blocked.

But having put the visitors under pressure the home defence was left flat footed on 69 minutes as Aaron Williams was pushed out to the left but then allowed to find his way back inside and fire a superb shot across Dewhurst for the second.

Streete cleared off the line from Shaw’s cross-shot shortly after but the game was put beyond the Lions reach on 77 minutes as Williams exploited a gap at the back to take Danny Knights pass and slot past the advancing Dewhurst from the edge of the area.

Two minutes later the Bucks put the icing on the cake when Marcus Dinanga converted from ten yards out to complete a miserable afternoon for the home fans.
