Vixens travel to Leeds Ladies for Quarter-Final

Guiseley Vixens play their first West Riding FA Women’s County Cup game this weekend away at rivals Leeds Ladies.

The quarter-final tie is the Vixens’ first game in the competition after Bradford City Reserves and Ossett Town both pulled out of the competition and is also their first game back in action in the New Year.

Last time these two sides met, in the league, the Vixens came out 5-1 victors though Leeds have hit a run of form winning their last two matches.

There is good news for Guiseley as striker Keegan Lambert and defender Cam Clarke are both back after long term injuries.

Manager Kyle O’Reilly said: “I’m looking forward to the Leeds game and getting back in the dugout in general after a long period off.

“We have had two good encounters with Leeds this season, in what’s always a good local derby, so Sunday will be the same no doubt. It’ll be closer than last time I think as they have strengthened their squad and tweaked how they play but I back our lot.

“It’s a great collective we’ve got and we seem to become more fluid with every game so fingers crossed we produce on the day and book our place in the semi-final!”

Captain Alarna Fuller expressed her thoughts on the fixture saying: “We’re looking forward to getting back into action in the cup and we’ve been working hard over the last couple of weeks on our fitness and sharpness so what better way to put it to the test than against our local rivals.

“The only team we haven’t managed to get all three points from in the league is Leeds so to go up against them in the cup and go through over them would be the perfect way to seek some revenge. It’s always a good game with them so I’m looking forward to it.”

The game will take place at The Genix Healthcare Stadium, Garforth, with kick-off being at 1pm.
