Guiseley Vixens travel to Chorley on Sunday where the winner will be assured top spot come the end of the weekend.
After a confident run out against Brighouse in the previous game, Guiseley will look to continue their winning form in their third away game of the season.
Both the Vixens and Chorley are the only teams left in the league who boast an unbeaten record, however the home side have a game in hand.
Joint manager Kyle O’Reilly had his say on the fixture:
“It’s a great opportunity to put some distance between ourselves and our rivals. It’s only game number six so regardless of result there’s 75% of the season to go so we won’t get carried away. It’s a case of keeping with the pack and doing our jobs each game to stay contenders.”
Going into the fixture, it appears to be the toughest one to date.
“It’ll be a tough task just like our other fixtures this season but they’ll pose a different threat to what we’ve faced before that’s for sure. We’ll get our heads together as coaches and prepare as we do every game and hopefully get the win” O’Reilly said.
With four games in 12 days coming up, squad depth will be important to keep the team fit and healthy. Joint manager Glen Preston had the following news about the team:
“Abbie McIver is expected to play a bigger part in this game if the match calls for it. She came on for twenty minutes on Wednesday and had a major impact but she’s regaining match fitness so needs easing back in. Chantelle O’Hara and Sarah Danby will also be back in contention to start for us this week. They missed the Brighouse game which made our result even better because these two are not just two of our best players, but two of the best players in the entire league so to have them back will be a major boost for us.”
The previous game also saw the return of Natalie Brace after a short term absence from the team.
O’Reilly said:
“Natalie was brilliant when she came in, she’s been away for a few weeks but was straight back into the swing of things, if she’s available then I’ve no doubts she’ll be in the squad for Sunday.”
Preston did have some bad news regarding forward, Keegan Lambert:
“Keegan is a major doubt for us. She was unable to train Thursday so it’s not looking good for her but she will undergo a fitness test with our rehab specialist Kris prior to the game to see if she can make the bench. With the fixtures piling up like mad over the next few weeks, we need to be sensible with all our players. One or two others have niggles so we might have to flex the squad.”
The game is on 2nd October with a 2pm kick off at the Jim Fowler Memorial Fields and the following is the full address for any fans making the trip:
