Ryan Toulson has urged his team-mates to maintain their winning mentality against North Ferriby United in the Vanarama Conference North on Tuesday.

The Lions secured their position in the play-offs after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Chorley on Saturday – the Lancashire also securing a top-five berth – with this week’s visit of FA Trophy winners Ferriby the last home league game of the regular season.

With a specific position in the play-off spots still to be decided, Toulson wants to ensure Guiseley go into the play-offs full of confidence.

“It was a great result for us on Saturday, Chorley are a decent side and they beat us in the trophy which was disappointing. But we knew if we put it right today, where it would take us,” explained the full-back.

“The lads have dug in deep, stuck together and got the result we wanted. It definitely has boosted us for the final run-in and our chances, but we have to take it a game at a time, we’ll have a look at it through the week and see what we can improve on because Ferriby are no pushovers. either.

“We need to make sure we have that winning mentality going into the game, we don’t want to slack off, we want to make sure we go in with a good momentum.”

Ferriby – who enjoyed Trophy success with a dramatic victory over Wrexham last month – have not won since their Wembley success and needed a Jason St Juste brace to salvage a point against Leamington on Saturday.

Last term, the Lions claimed four victories over Billy Heath’s side with the reverse fixture this season ending in a 4-4 draw.
