The Lions fell to another defeat on the road in a basement battle at The Citadel, read more in our match report sponsored by BuildADrive.com.
Guiseley now find themselves four points adrift at the foot of the table with eight games left to play and tonight’s defeat was syptomatic of the season as a whole.
Farsley had conceded 67 goals to date so the last thing you do is play a ball across your own back four at just the right height and invite ex-Lion Frank Mulhern to hit a sweet volley past Owen Mason from thirty yards out and give his side a boost to their confidence right from the outset.
Guiseley responded with James Gale putting a volley over the bar and Lebrun Mbeka heading straight at Dave Robson.
From then on the game was end-to-end but with very little quality to enthuse the crowd of 1047.
A cross from Kaine Felix was just in front of Gale and the winger then fired narrowly over from a tight angle while at the other end Mason had to be alert to deny Mulhern a second goal.
The second half carried on in much the same vein as the Lions dominated much of the possession, especially in the last twenty minutes, but despite creating several openings the visitors couldn’t force the ball over the line.
Even when home custodian Robson looked to have handled outside the area, and the referee waved play on, John Johnston was unable to capitalise on the open goal.
Robson then pulled off three crucial stops from substitute Josh Stones, Gale and Felix as the clock ticked down and Celtic held out for a crucial three points.
