Terriers’ class tells

Hosting their second Championship opponents in three days Guiseley were undone by some class finishing from visitors Huddersfield Town who fielded a first team  line up supplemented by a smattering of Academy players.

After a quiet opening half hour Town took the lead on 38 minutes when Duane Holmes got in behind the home defence and evaded Steve Drench to slot home. In a first half that produced few chances the nearest the home side came was when Gavin Rothery put his free kick over the bar from twenty yards just before the break.

Nine minutes into the second period the Terriers doubled their lead courtesy of the lively Holmes feeding Harry Bunn for an accomplished finish.

Adam Boyes rifled home from eighteen yards to halve the deficit shortly afterwards to give the Lions some hope but any thoughts of a comeback were snuffed out by goals from Oli Norwood and Jake Charles to complete a comprehensive win for Town.

Having tested themselves against three full-time professional sides in the last nine days, Guiseley now look to renew acquaintances with former Conference North rivals Nuneaton Town who visit Nethermoor on Saturday for a 3:00pm kick off.
