Telford Travel To Nethermoor

Match sponsored by Guiseley AFC Supporters’ Club

AFC Telford United are Saturday’s opponents at Nethermoor in the third Vanarama National League North fixture of the season with kick-off at 3pm.

The Lions will be looking for both the first goal and points of the campaign after Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at home to Chorley and Saturday’s 1-0 reverse at Boston United.

The Bucks have enjoyed a solid start with a 1-0 home win over Southport and Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw with Kidderminster Harriers.

The last time Telford travelled to Nethermoor The Lions ran out 6-1 winners on 1st April 2014, thanks to strikes from Danny Ellis, Adam Boyes and doubles from Gavin Rothery and Alex Johnson.

Following Tuesday night’s defeat Colin Robertson spoke to Joint First Team Manager Russ O’Neill who said “We’re bitterly disappointed we thought for long spells we were on the front foot, ultimately goals do change games. We have had a goal disallowed and created numerous openings but fair play to Chorley, they know what the league is about.”

Looking at the two opening games O’Neill reflected by saying “The manner of tonight’s defeat for me was a lot different to Saturday’s.”

After the visitors went 2-0 up a triple substitution was made “We didn’t quite get the goal back despite having five attacking threats on the field.”

Looking ahead O’Neill said “Every game is difficult, it will be through no lack of effort it nothing happens. They’re coming thick and fast then we have Stockport after Telford.”

“It is what it is, we’re four days in and we have not got the result in my opinion we deserved tonight so we move on and look forward to Saturday.”
