We are delighted to announce the signing of Charlie Staniland from Hallam.

The 21 year-old central midfielder moves to Nethermoor to work with Ian Richards who knows him well.

Of his new signing Ian Richards said: “Charlie fits the mould of what we expect from a box to box midfielder. He is technically excellent, composed on the ball with the desire to win the ball back high up the pitch. He is still young with a hunger to learn and improve as a player.”

Charlie started his career with Sheffield United in 2012 and spent 12 years with the Blades in their academy set up.

The midfielder signed scholarship with them in 2021 before signing his first professional contract two years later after he impressed in their U18 and U21 sides.

The Sheffield born Staniland then moved to Canada signing for Toronto II in the MLS Next Pro league.

He made 25 appearances and scored two goals in the USA before returning to the UK seven months later.

On his return he joined Sheffield FC for a brief stint before spending last season at Hallam in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division.

He made 43 appearances last season scoring one goal as the Countrymen secured a 12th placed finish following their promotion at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
