Stalybridge Celtic next up for the Lions

Guiseley host Stalybridge Celtic tonight, hoping to build on an impressive away win on Saturday against Oxford City.

Despite the club’s losing captain Simon Ainge on loan to Luton last week, and a small blip in September, the Lions are in second place, with manager Steve Kittrick hoping his charges can stretch their winning run in all competitions to four games.

Kittrick will be hoping James Walshaw can recover from a knock sustained at Oxford, while Kevin Holsgrove is in line to make his Lions debut.

Opponents Celtic have so far seen mixed results and they are currently placed 8th in the table after a 6-2 loss to Chester FC on Saturday.

Following tonight’s fixture, the next scheduled home game for Guiseley is not for almost three weeks, as they travel to Colwyn Bay in the FA Cup and Solihull Moors before hosting Worcester City on October 20th.

The last time the teams met at Nethermoor in the Blue Square Bet North it produced a 1-1 stalemate, Michael Brough giving Guiseley the lead only for Stalybridge to grab a late equaliser through recent Lions player Stephen Brogan.

The highlights of that game can be seen here.

Remember, it’s only £10 for adults, £6 concessions and £4 for 12-16 year-olds, so come on down and cheer on your local team.
