Stalemate wraps up Lions pre-season

Given that both teams begin their relative National League campaigns next Saturday this afternoons clash at Nethermoor was never going to be a full-blooded encounter and so it proved as the game finished goalles.

With chances at a premium in an uninspiring first half the nearest Guiseley came to breaking the deadlock was when John Rooney clipped the top of the bar and Reece Thompson brought a good save from Adam Bartlett.

The tempo increased on the restart and Liam Marrs tested Jonny Maxted while Will Hatfield and Thompson managed to get in each other’s way with only Bartlett to beat and the chance was lost.

Connor Brown did well toget to the bye line but delayed his pull back and another chance was gone.

James Wesolowski put a shot just over the angle and Maxted did well to deny Scott Saunders as the clock ticked down.

Both teams will perhaps be thankful that their players appear to have come through the game unscathed and ready for the serious business that starts in a weeks’ time when Guiseley entertain newly promoted Ebbsfleet United at Nethermoor kick off 3pm.
