The Lions played out a 1-1 draw with Braintree Town at Nethermoor on Saturday amid controversy over Oliver Norburn’s equaliser.
Despite turning in an impressive display against high-flying Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday, Guiseley started slowly, with the lively Michael Cheek causing plenty of problems for the home defence.
And it was Cheek who deservedly put the visitors ahead before half-time.
Mark Bower’s men improved after the break and threatened through Norburn while goalkeeper Dan Atkinson was required to be at his best to keep his side in it.
But the game’s turning point came 17 minutes from time when, following an injury to a Braintree player, the ball was thrown to Norburn, who saw his attempted backpass loop over Tom King and in.
Play continued after discussions between both benches and the officials as the Lions survived late Braintree pressure to claim a point.
