We are delighted to announce Jamie Spencer has returned to The Lions after a season away for the 2021/22 campaign.
The signing was revealed live on air on The Lions Roar Podcast which you can watch here. Jamie joined Guiseley Radio’s Chris Bell, Dave Robertson and Tom Feaheny live on the podcast, don’t forget to subscribe to see all our latest video uploads.
On signing back with The Lions Jamie said “I have stayed in contact with Russ since I left, I really get on with him both on and off the pitch. It just materialised over the last couple of months so it has been a while but nothing has been said as we waited for the season to start.”
Speaking about the two covid disrupted campaigns the midfielder added “I think two years ago when I was at Guiseley and we played at King’s Lynn we all thought it would be two weeks and we would be back to normal.”
“We just kept going but it wasn’t the same, no one was at the games and my mum, dad and girlfriend couldn’t come and watch.”
Jamie highlighted that the players have been working hard over the past few weeks to get ready for the first pre-season friendly at Ilkley Town “We have been in training twice a week for the last two weeks with a double session tomorrow, it has been good to be back around the lads with a few familiar faces.”
Talking about the hopes for the season Spencer added “This league is getting more competitive, some clubs are full time and others are hybrid so we need to bridge the gap there and make sure we’re doing enough in training. I think if we were to reach the playoffs that would be outstanding with what other teams have access to.”
“I like a challenge and I am looking forward to it, it will be good to see everyone back at the games.”

Jamie played a key role in the 2019/20 campaign making 23 appearances and scoring six goals despite missing a chunk of the cut short season with injury.
The midfielder was released by The Moors which lead to Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill moving quickly to secure his signature.
The 23 year-old initially joined the club from Bradford (Park Avenue) after a spell on loan from Huddersfield Town.
Spencer is also a key character off the pitch and reunites with several of the 2019/20 squad who are still at the club.
Thank you to Pickerings Lifts who have once again sponsored Jamie’s home, away and training kits for the season.
