Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, the snow has been cleared from the pitch and walkways for today’s game but the club are keen to ensure that snow doesn’t cause a problem in future either.
Snow and bad weather has caused plenty of problems for teams in the Blue Square Bet North, ourselves included, which is why we have invested in green technology which allows snow to be used as water for players’ showers.
Our tireless ground staff have already set about funneling the last few snow piles into the Snow-Green System© and this will form part of the water used after today’s game with Workington. Not only can the technology be altered to make for hot or cold water, depending on the players’ performance, the club also hopes it will reduce our carbon footprint and slash water bills.
Chief executive Adie Towers said: “We’ve got a last few bits of snow behind the stand and perimeter which aren’t being put to any use. With this technology we hope to be able to do our bit for the environment and also cut our water bills. What’s more, if the lads turn in a poor showing, we can keep the water cold by way of a punishment.”
