We are delighted to announce the signing of Benni Smales-Braithwaite on loan from Barrow for a month.

The striker will remain with the Lions until 24th March 2023 after signing a one month loan from the League 2 Cumbrians.

The 20 year-old joined the Bluebirds in August last year after coming through Man City and Southampton’s academy set ups.

Whilst with the Saints Smales-Braithwaite had a loan with Gloucester City in the Vanarama National League North during the 2021/22 campaign and made his City debut in the clash at Nethermoor.

Benni moved back up north in the summer and has had two loan spells this season with Warrington Rylands and Curzon Ashton.

Benni has made three appearances in all competitions for Barrow, including one Sky Bet League Two appearance when he came off the bench in the 3-1 victory over Colchester United in November.

Smales-Braithwaite is available to make his Lions debut in tomorrow’s clash with Radcliffe.

We can also confirm the arrival of Jack Higgins who has been playing with Barnoldswick Town this season.

Jack is a 31 year-old centre back who has plenty of non league experience playing for York City, Southport, Farsley Celtic, Warrington Town, Stalybridge Celtic, Ashton United, Clitheroe, Hemel Hempsted and Rushden and Diamonds.
