We are delighted to announce the six new members to the first team squad ahead of this afternoon’s trip to Darlington.
After Tuesday night’s trip to AFC Telford United was postponed following a Covid-19 incident Joint Managers Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill have been busy this week.
15 players have been ruled out of the trip to Darlington’s Blackwell Meadows ground this afternoon through injury, suspension and isolation after being a close contact of a positive covid case.
Luke Hall, Andrai Jones, Oliver Reape, Harrison Leigh, Ellis Farrar and Jakub Hebda are all available for selection this afternoon.
So let’s look at our new Lions in more detail
We’re delighted that Luke Hall has joined from Sheffield FC on a dual registration basis. The 18 year-old midfielder signed for the World’s Oldest Club in the summer following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday and has represented England at youth level.
We are delighted to welcome Andrai Jones back for his third spell with The Lions, the midfielder left the club following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign. Andrai played a crucial role during the 2019/20 season which was sadly cut short just as The Lions were getting into form.
Congratulations to Oli Reape, Harrison Leigh, Ellis Farrar and Jakub Hebda who have all signed first team forms after impressing for Guiseley academy. The four graduates follow Josh Stones who signed earlier in the week before then striking twice in a 3-2 win over FC Halifax Town.
Oli Reape is a 17 year-old right back who is in his first year with Dave Currie’s Young Lions. He has featured in all of the academy’s seven games so far this season after growing up in the Guiseley area and he has been a regular at Nethermoor supporting The Lions over the years.
Harrison Leigh, the Young Lions captain, is a commanding centre back. The 18 year-old is also an ever present in the academy team and he has struck two goals in the FA Youth Cup.
Ellis Farrar is also a centre back who has played all seven games so far for the Young Lions. The 18 year-old has found the net once this season so far.
Jakub Hebda is another member of the Young Lions squad to be rewarded with first team forms after their 100% start to the season. The 17 year-old striker has scored nine goals in the seven games he has played so far this season and has struck up a good partnership with Josh Stones at the top end of the pitch.
