Sincil Bank stalemate goes to replay

After an even first half it was a backs to the wall performance as the Lions survived a second half onslaught from their hosts to force a replay at Nethermoor on Tuesday.

Jake Cassidy went close early on as his shot was blocked on the line and then cleared and Jordan Preston curled a long range effort just over the bar.

Cassidy and Connor Brown also went close while at the other end Dan Atkinson made several good saves to deny the hosts.

The second half was a different story as the Imps went for the kill giving the central defensive pairing of Rob Atkinson and Jake Lawlor a torrid time.

The usually dependable Matt Rhead missed a sitter diverting his header wide of a gaping goal and then saw Atkinson push his header on to the post and to safety.

Luke Waterfall struck the side netting and then saw his looping effort bounce off the bar before Atkinson was in action again to deny Jack Muldoon.

On the rare occasions when the visitors managed to mount a counter Preston and substitute Oli Johnson shot straight at keeper Paul Farman.

So with neither side able to break the stalemate the tie goes to a replay at Nethermoor on Tuesday (KO 7:45 pm) where prices have been reduced to £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for 12-18-Year-Olds. U12’s get free entry with an accompanied paying adult.

The draw for the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper is being shown live on BBC2 and BT Sport 1 from 7pm with the Imps/Lions being ball number 57.
