Zac Rushworth scored in three successive games as Guiseley Academy lost narrowly to Farsley Celtic, beat Boston United and drew with York City, writes Rachel O’Connor.
In this time some of the younger players in Dave Currie’s squad have come to the fore as leading scorer George Sebine has made only a ten minute appearance from the bench in the last five games and captain Freddie Westfall continues to be absent.
After this series of games Guiseley hold seventh place in the National League U-19 Alliance North.
The Young Lions were very unlucky not to gain anything from their clash with league leaders Farsley Celtic at the West Riding County FA ground.
The game ended in a 4-3 win for Celtic but on chances created Guiseley should have taken the win.
There was no lack of effort from the Guiseley players but they paid the penalty for failing to press home their advantage when they were 3-2 up and Farsley went on to take the points.
Guiseley’s goals came from Jack Lorriman, Zac Rushworth and Zante Rose-Campbell.
Rushworth was on the mark again when Guiseley made the long journey to Boston United. They notched a 2-1 victory with Lucas Alexander adding to Rushworth’s strike.
Just two days later Guiseley were in action again when they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with York City at Trinity University.
Despite throwing on all four subs in the dying stages of the game Guiseley were unable to add to Rushworth’s strike and force a winner.
With seven games remaining Guiseley will be looking to improve on their seventh position in what has been an injury hit season with 29 players being used.
Leading scorers are George Sebine 16, Lucas Alexander 12, Jack Lorriman 12.
